Over mij

Ik fotografeer al mijn hele leven en heb me gespecialiseerd op landschapsfotografie. De afgelopen jaren is dat met name toegespitst op Limburg en Noord-Brabant (zie ook Instagram/facebook van Verrassend Brabant). Enkele jaren geleden heb ik samen met Peter van Haaften het fotoboek Verrassend Brabant gepubliceerd. Het ontstond als het werk van pure hobbyisten op heldere winterse dagen en groeide uit tot een grote verzameling prachtige foto´s op allerlei locaties en door alle jaargetijden heen; dwars door Brabant. Het succesvolle boek werd door het Brabants Dagblad vernoemd ‘tot wellicht het mooiste fotoboek over Brabant.’ Daarnaast hebben we talloze reportages gemaakt voor het tijdschrift Brabeau.
Voor mij is fotograferen niet het moment dat je op 'het knopje drukt'. Het begint lang daarvoor. Diverse keren de situatie bekijken, de juiste hoek zoeken en vooral nadenken over wat een object 'anders maakt'. Dus niet even random 100 shoots maken en dan de beste kiezen. Fotografie is voor mij een hobby, ik fotografeer voor mezelf, waarbij ik mijn creativiteit de vrije loop kan laten gaan zonder commerciële doeleinden.
Een manier om te experimenteren en mijn gevoel vast te leggen in beelden. Met mijn camera kan ik even stilstaan, spelen met licht, kleur en compositie en de schoonheid vinden in alledaagse momenten. Fotografie helpt me om anders te kijken, om te zien wat normaal misschien aan me voorbij zou gaan.

About me
I have been photographing my whole life and have specialized in landscape photography. In recent years, this has focused primarily on Limburg and North Brabant (see also Instagram/Facebook of Verrassend Brabant). A few years ago, together with Peter van Haaften, I published the photo book Verrassend Brabant (Surprising Brabant). It started as the work of pure hobbyists on clear winter days and grew into a large collection of beautiful photos in all sorts of locations and through all seasons; right across Brabant. The successful book was named 'perhaps the most beautiful photo book about Brabant' by the Brabants Dagblad newspaper. Additionally, we have created numerous features for the magazine Brabeau.
For me, photography is not the moment you 'press the button'. It starts long before that. Looking at the situation multiple times, finding the right angle, and especially thinking about what makes an object 'different'. So, not just randomly taking 100 shots and then picking the best one. Photography is a hobby for me; I photograph for myself, where I can let my creativity run free without commercial purposes.
A way to experiment and capture my feelings in images. With my camera, I can pause for a moment, play with light, color, and composition, and find the beauty in everyday moments. Photography helps me to look differently, to see what might normally pass me by.
